Comparing your CV with the job…

Matching keywords, skills, experience and qualifications. This usually takes a few seconds.

How the ATS score is calculated

The score is rule-based and transparent: the same CV and job description always give the same result. It compares the words in your CV with the words in the job description; it doesn't judge you as a candidate.

Part Points
Keyword match Skills, tools and repeated key terms from the job description that appear in your CV. Required keywords count more than "nice to have" ones. 50
Hard skills The technical and job-specific skills the job asks for, such as Laravel, Excel or SEO. 20
Job title Whether your headline, summary or job titles use the advertised job title. 10
Experience & qualifications Years of experience and education level, when the job description states them. 10
CV sections Contact details, summary, skills, experience or projects, education and measurable achievements. 10

If the job description doesn't mention something (for example, years of experience), that part is left out of the total instead of counting against you. No checker can guarantee that a CV will pass an employer's ATS — use the result as a guide to tailor your CV honestly.

Tips for a better match

  • Use the same wording as the job advert for skills you really have (e.g. "REST API", not just "APIs").
  • Show skills in your experience and project bullet points, not only in a skills list.
  • Keep standard headings like Experience, Education and Skills, and use a simple, single-column layout.
  • Add numbers to your achievements — time saved, sales grown, users served.

ATS Checker with Job Description FAQs

No. Every employer uses different software and settings, and people make the final decision. The score shows how closely your CV matches the wording of this job description, which is one thing recruiters and ATS software look for.
It is a transparent, rule-based score out of 100: keyword match (50 points), hard skills (20), job title (10), experience and qualifications (10) and CV sections such as contact details, summary and measurable achievements (10). Parts the job description doesn't mention are left out rather than counted against you. The same CV and job description always give the same score.
Never automatically. If you choose to, you can tick missing skills you genuinely have and add them to your CV's Skills section. A copy of your previous version is saved first, so you can restore it from the builder.
No. You can check a CV you built here, paste your CV text or upload a PDF or Word file. Uploaded files are read in your browser; only the text is sent for the check.
Each check is stored so we can show and improve the result. Checks made without an account are deleted automatically after 30 days. See our privacy policy for details.
