A fresher resume has a different job from an experienced resume. It must show your degree, practical skills, projects, internships, certifications and readiness for the first full-time role. The best template gives these sections space instead of forcing you to fill a work-history layout you do not need yet.
Fresher Simple is the most direct choice when education, projects and skills should come first. Simple ATS is safer for campus placement portals, off-campus forms and large employers that ask for a straightforward upload. Minimal Clean ATS gives a little more polish while staying simple. Classic works when you want a formal, traditional one-page resume for banking, teaching support, administration or public-sector-style applications.
Use Internship Focused if your internships, volunteering or training experience are stronger than your final-year project. Use Portfolio if you have substantial project work, design samples, apps, dashboards or GitHub links to show. Keep the resume to one page unless the employer specifically asks for a detailed CV.
For campus placements, choose Simple ATS or Fresher Simple. Placement teams and recruiters may review many profiles quickly, so standard headings and a compact structure help. Put degree, college, CGPA or percentage, graduation year and key skills near the top.
For off-campus applications, Minimal Clean ATS or Classic can look more mature while still being easy to read. Use the summary to state your target role clearly: “BCom graduate with internship experience in GST filing, Excel reporting and vendor documentation.” Avoid generic lines such as “seeking a challenging position to utilise my skills”.
For project-heavy profiles, Portfolio can bring academic and personal projects forward. This is useful for engineering, design, analytics and marketing freshers. If you need help deciding what to include, see the resume guide for freshers and the BTech fresher resume guide.
A good fresher template will not compensate for vague content. Write project bullets with tools, your contribution and result. A weak line says, “Made a website project.” A stronger line says, “Built a responsive college event website using HTML, CSS and JavaScript; added registration forms and reduced manual entry for the committee.”
Add 10th and 12th marks only when they help, when the employer asks, or when placement rules require them. Add certifications such as NPTEL, Coursera or AWS only when relevant to the role. Hobbies should be brief and specific, not a long list.
You can start with the Fresher Simple template, preview it, and switch to Simple ATS or Portfolio without retyping. MakePerfectResume also lets you adjust spacing, font size and section order, which helps keep a fresher resume to one neat page.
Do not copy a senior professional format with empty experience sections. Rename or reorder sections so education, projects, internships and skills lead the page. Do not add father's name, marital status or a declaration line unless the employer or college format asks for it.
Also avoid making every skill look equal. Put role-specific skills first, such as Java, SQL and Git for a developer role, or Excel, Tally and GST basics for an accounts role. The BTech fresher resume example shows how a first-job resume can stay focused without pretending to have years of experience.
