What makes a good resume headline?

A headline is the first line a recruiter reads. In one line it should say what you do, how much experience you have and why you're worth a closer look.

  • Start with the job title you're applying for, written the way job adverts write it.
  • Add experience and 2โ€“3 key skills โ€” the words recruiters type into Naukri and LinkedIn search.
  • Prove it with a number if you can: a result, a certification or a notable project.
  • Keep it honest and specific. Skip "hard-working" and "go-getter"; show it instead.

Examples

  • Fresher: B.Com Fresher Seeking Accounts Executive Role | Tally, GST, Excel
  • Experienced: Software Engineer with 4+ Years of Experience in Java, Spring Boot and AWS
  • Career changer: Teacher Moving into Instructional Design | Curriculum Design, Articulate 360
