A recruiter for a digital marketing role looks for three things in the first few seconds: which channels you have worked on, what tools you used, and what changed because of your work. The template's job is to make those three things easy to find. A layout with a clear skills area, short role headers and room for numbers in each bullet beats a decorative design with little space for results.
Results matter more in marketing than in most fields because almost everything is measured. "Managed Instagram page" says little. "Grew Instagram followers from 4,200 to 11,800 in six months with three reels a week and a creator collaboration" shows the channel, the effort and the outcome. Choose a template that leaves enough width for bullets like that without squeezing them into two-word fragments.
Marketing is the natural starting point for brand, social media and content roles. It keeps skills and tools in a side column and gives experience the main width, so campaign bullets stay readable. Gradient Header adds a confident colour band at the top while keeping one main column, which suits agency applications and roles where presentation is part of the job.
Modern Blue is a safer choice for performance marketing, SEO and analytics roles at larger companies. It looks current but stays close to a plain, single-column structure that applicant tracking systems read without trouble. Designer CV fits social media, content and creative roles where a photo and a more visual layout are welcome, such as at agencies and start-ups.
When you apply through a job portal or a large company's careers site, Simple ATS is the most cautious option: one column, standard headings and nothing that could confuse a parser. Many marketers keep two versions of the same resume, a designed one for direct email and referrals and a plain one for portals. In MakePerfectResume you can switch between them in one click because every template uses the same content.
Start with a two- or three-line summary that names your channels and your strongest result. Then list skills grouped by type: channels (SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads, email, social), tools (GA4, Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Canva, HubSpot or similar) and skills such as copywriting, reporting or A/B testing. Keep the list honest; interviewers often ask you to explain one tool in detail.
Under each role, write three to five bullets that each name a channel, an action and a result. Add certifications such as Google Ads or Google Analytics if you have them. A short projects section helps freshers and career changers: a personal blog with organic traffic, a small business you ran ads for, or a college fest you promoted all count when you describe them with real numbers.

Avoid listing every tool you have opened once. Ten tools with no context look weaker than five tools tied to results. Avoid vanity metrics without context, such as impressions alone; pair them with clicks, leads, sales or cost per result where you can. And avoid heavy graphics, skill bars or icons-only contact details on the version you send through portals, because those parts are often skipped or misread.
Finally, match the resume to the job. A performance marketing role wants budgets, ROAS and cost per lead near the top; a content role wants traffic, rankings and published work; a social media role wants growth, engagement and campaigns.
