Show your content writer niche and volume

Content agencies and startups in India receive hundreds of applications that say "creative writer with good command of English". Stand out by naming your niche and your output. "Writes long-form fintech and SaaS content, 8–10 articles a month" tells an editor exactly where you fit.

Niches such as finance, healthcare, B2B SaaS, legal and education pay better than general lifestyle writing because they need research skills. If you write in Hindi or another Indian language as well as English, say so prominently; bilingual writers are in demand for regional SEO and vernacular apps.

Also state the formats you write: blogs, website pages, case studies, email newsletters, whitepapers or social captions. Many employers hire for one or two formats and filter on these words.

Results that make a content writer resume credible

Writing quality is judged from samples, but your resume should still show impact. Use the numbers your editors and clients track:

• Articles on page one of Google, or keywords ranked.
• Organic traffic, clicks or sign-ups driven by your pieces.
• First-draft approval rate or number of revision rounds.
• Content refreshed and the traffic lift that followed.

Compare "Wrote blogs for various clients" with "Took 22 articles to page one, driving about 45,000 organic visits a month". The second answers the question every editor has: will this writer's work actually perform?

Mention tools such as WordPress, Surfer SEO, Clearscope, Grammarly or Hemingway only if you use them regularly.

Portfolio links and writing tests

Add one portfolio link near your contact details. A simple Google Drive folder, Notion page or personal site with five to eight of your best published pieces, grouped by niche, is enough. Remove anything written for a content mill or riddled with keyword stuffing.

Most Indian employers will give you a paid or unpaid writing test. Your resume earns you the test, so keep it error-free; a single typo in a content writer resume is often an automatic rejection.

Format and template for sales and marketing resumes

Sales and marketing hiring managers in India decide in seconds whether you can deliver numbers, so your format should push results to the surface. Start with a three-line summary that states your years of experience, the industry you sell or market in (FMCG, SaaS, real estate, BFSI, D2C) and one headline achievement. Follow it with Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications under standard headings so Naukri and company ATS software can read them.

For sales roles, every job should show target versus achievement, revenue in ₹ lakh or crore, territory size and the number of dealers, distributors or accounts you handled. For marketing and content roles, show campaign results, budgets, traffic or lead numbers, and add one portfolio or LinkedIn link instead of attaching samples. Keep it to one page under five years of experience and two pages after that.
