Clinical dietitian vs wellness nutritionist resumes

Hospitals, diabetes clinics, wellness brands and health-tech apps all hire dietitians, but they look for different things. Hospitals want clinical nutrition: screening, assessment, ICU and enteral feeding, renal, cardiac, oncology and paediatric diets, and coordination with the kitchen. Wellness and app-based companies want counselling volume, client retention, weight-loss or HbA1c outcomes and comfort with online consultations.

Decide which one you are targeting and write the summary and first bullets for that employer. A clinical dietitian applying to an app-based coaching role should bring counselling and outcome numbers forward, and vice versa. Food-service experience, such as kitchen audits, menu costing or patient meal feedback, is a bonus for hospital roles.

Dietitian achievements with patient outcomes

Show the effect of your work, not just "prepared diet charts":

  • Weak: Gave diet plans to diabetic patients.
  • Strong: Built carbohydrate-counting plans using regional foods; 3-month HbA1c fell by an average of 0.9% across 120 patients.
  • Strong: Raised ICU protein-target achievement from 61% to 82% with daily feed reviews.

Other useful numbers include patients screened per day, malnutrition detection rate, diet errors reduced, follow-up attendance and group sessions run. Name the screening and assessment tools you use, such as SGA, NRS-2002, MUST or anthropometry, and mention reference standards like the ICMR-NIN dietary guidelines where relevant.

RD credential, education and fresher tips for dietitians

The Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Indian Dietetic Association is the main professional credential for dietitians in India, and many hospitals ask for it. If you are completing the required internship or preparing for the exam, mention the expected date. A diabetes educator course or sports nutrition certificate helps for specialised roles.

Freshers with a B.Sc or M.Sc in Food and Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition or Dietetics should list the hospital internship, departments covered, number of patients assessed and any community nutrition project. Mention regional languages, because counselling works best in the patient's own language. Keep the resume to one page and avoid listing every diet type; group them by condition instead, such as diabetes, renal, cardiac and critical care.

Format and template for healthcare resumes

Hospital HR teams, diagnostic chains and pharma recruiters check eligibility before anything else, so make it easy to find. Put your registration details in the header or a short "Registration and licences" line: council name, registration number and validity, for example State Nursing Council, NMC or State Medical Council, State Pharmacy Council, Dental Council or RCI. Add life-support and safety credentials such as BLS, ACLS, PALS or AERB radiation-safety training with the year they were completed or renewed.

Use a clean one- or two-page layout with standard headings: Summary, Registration, Clinical Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications. Name the department, bed strength or setting (ICU, OPD, casualty, NABL lab, GMP plant) for every job. Leave out patient names and any identifiable case details. A photo is common for hospital roles in India but optional; date of birth and marital status are not needed. For wording help, see how to write resume experience.
