Dental council registration and clinic setting

Dental chains and hospitals verify registration with the State Dental Council (registered under the Dentists Act and recognised by the Dental Council of India) before they schedule a chairside interview. Put the council name and registration number in your header or summary. If you have moved states, mention whether your registration is transferred.

Describe the setting for each job: a 4-chair chain branch, a solo private clinic, a hospital dental department or a teaching institution. Chains care about patient flow and conversion, hospitals care about medically compromised patients and documentation, and colleges care about your MDS and publications. Tailor the first two bullets of each job to the setting you are applying to.

Dentist achievements: procedures, volume and conversion

Clinic owners want to know what you can do independently and how many cases you handle. Give monthly or daily numbers:

  • Weak: Did RCT, fillings and extractions.
  • Strong: Complete 35–40 RCTs a month using rotary endodontics with post-operative IOPA checks.
  • Strong: Raised treatment acceptance from 52% to 68% using intraoral photos and RVG explanations.

Mention procedures you are confident in (molar RCT, surgical extractions, crowns, implants assistance, aligner case work-up) and those you are still building. Interviewers often ask for case photos, so keep a de-identified portfolio ready and note it on the resume.

CDE courses, MDS and fresher BDS tips

Continuing dental education matters in India. Add hands-on courses in rotary endodontics, implantology, aesthetic dentistry or clear aligners with the year and the number of cases done under supervision. MDS holders should state the specialty first, such as Endodontics or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

BDS freshers should describe the internship: departments rotated, approximate number of extractions, restorations and scaling cases, and any outreach camps. Keep sterilisation and infection-control practice visible on the resume, since clinics are increasingly audited on it. Leave out the long list of college events and keep the resume to one page. If you speak the local language of the clinic area, list it, because patient communication drives treatment acceptance.

Format and template for healthcare resumes

Hospital HR teams, diagnostic chains and pharma recruiters check eligibility before anything else, so make it easy to find. Put your registration details in the header or a short "Registration and licences" line: council name, registration number and validity, for example State Nursing Council, NMC or State Medical Council, State Pharmacy Council, Dental Council or RCI. Add life-support and safety credentials such as BLS, ACLS, PALS or AERB radiation-safety training with the year they were completed or renewed.

Use a clean one- or two-page layout with standard headings: Summary, Registration, Clinical Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications. Name the department, bed strength or setting (ICU, OPD, casualty, NABL lab, GMP plant) for every job. Leave out patient names and any identifiable case details. A photo is common for hospital roles in India but optional; date of birth and marital status are not needed. For wording help, see how to write resume experience.
