When hiring a housekeeping supervisor, the executive housekeeper wants to know how many rooms and staff you have handled, what standards you inspect against and how well you control costs. Put these numbers in your summary: "supervising 22 attendants for a 180-room hotel" is clearer than "responsible for housekeeping department".

Mention the type of property, because heritage hotels, resorts, hospitals and business hotels have different routines. Supervisors who have worked with brand standards, Opera or another PMS housekeeping module and digital room status updates are often preferred by chain hotels. If you also manage laundry, horticulture or contract cleaning staff, add it, because it widens the roles you can apply for.

Use guest scores and savings in housekeeping bullets

Housekeeping work is easy to describe in a list of duties, but results make your resume stronger. Pick outcomes that the general manager would notice:

• Cleanliness score in guest surveys or online reviews before and after.
• Linen loss, guest supplies or chemical cost reduced in rupees.
• Brand audit or hygiene audit scores.
• Rooms inspected per day and turnaround time for check-out rooms.

A weak bullet says "checked rooms and supervised staff". A strong one says "Raised guest cleanliness score from 82% to 93% using a 25-point room checklist". If you introduced a new process, such as a par-stock register or deep-cleaning calendar, explain it in one line along with the result.

Many supervisors in India start as room attendants or public area cleaners, and that history is a strength. Show the promotion clearly, either as two roles or as "Room Attendant to Senior Room Attendant" with dates. Add training you gave to new staff, VIP room set-ups and any awards.

If you are applying for your first supervisor role, mention times you led a shift, prepared duty rosters or handled inspections when the supervisor was on leave. Include a hotel management or housekeeping diploma, and any short training in chemical safety, first aid or fire safety. Keep the resume to one page and use simple English, because clear reports and handovers are part of the job.

Hospitality and retail recruiters read quickly, often on a phone between shifts, so a clean one-page layout with clear headings works best. Put your current role, property or store type and years of experience at the top, followed by measurable results such as guest scores, upselling, sales targets or audit ratings.

A professional photo is normal and often expected for guest-facing roles such as cabin crew, front office, guest relations and some luxury retail jobs. Use a recent, well-lit photo in grooming standards similar to the job. For back-office, BPO and kitchen roles, a photo is optional.

List languages with honest levels, because Hindi, English and a regional or foreign language are real advantages with tourists and customers.
