Show the surgeries and specialties you support

OT in-charges want to know what kind of theatre you can run. Mention the number of theatres, monthly surgical volume and specialties: general surgery, orthopaedics, laparoscopy, gynaecology and LSCS, urology, ENT, neuro, cardiac or ophthalmology. A technician who has handled joint replacements and spine cases with C-arm is valued very differently from one who has supported only minor procedures.

Write whether you work as an OT technician, anaesthesia technician or both. Many Indian hospitals combine the roles, so list anaesthesia workstation checks, airway trolley preparation, intubation assistance and monitoring if you do them.

OT technician achievements: readiness, safety and sterility

Theatre performance is measured by on-time starts, turnover time, cancellations and infections. Link your bullets to those numbers:

  • Weak: Preparing OT and helping doctors.
  • Strong: Support 120–140 surgeries a month across 6 theatres and cut equipment-related delays by 30% with a pre-list setup checklist.
  • Strong: Coordinate autoclave Bowie-Dick tests and biological indicators with CSSD, keeping sterility records audit-ready.

Mention your role in the WHO surgical safety checklist, instrument and sponge counts, implant tracking and NABH documentation. These points show you protect patients, not only that you move equipment.

Emergency readiness matters too. If you keep the difficult-airway trolley, defibrillator and malignant hyperthermia or crash kit checked and stocked, or you have handled emergency caesarean and trauma lists at night, add a bullet about it.

Qualifications and fresher tips for OT technicians

Write your diploma or B.Sc in Operation Theatre Technology, Anaesthesia Technology or OT and Anaesthesia Technology with the institute and year. If your state paramedical council or allied-health council has registered you, add the number. BLS is expected; infection control and biomedical waste training are useful extras.

Freshers should list their internship hospital, theatres rotated, approximate number of cases observed or assisted, and equipment they can set up on their own. Experienced technicians applying to corporate hospitals should mention modern equipment such as advanced energy devices, 4K laparoscopy systems or robotic surgery set-up exposure, but only if they have actually used it. Night-shift and emergency availability is worth a line.

Format and template for healthcare resumes

Hospital HR teams, diagnostic chains and pharma recruiters check eligibility before anything else, so make it easy to find. Put your registration details in the header or a short "Registration and licences" line: council name, registration number and validity, for example State Nursing Council, NMC or State Medical Council, State Pharmacy Council, Dental Council or RCI. Add life-support and safety credentials such as BLS, ACLS, PALS or AERB radiation-safety training with the year they were completed or renewed.

Use a clean one- or two-page layout with standard headings: Summary, Registration, Clinical Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications. Name the department, bed strength or setting (ICU, OPD, casualty, NABL lab, GMP plant) for every job. Leave out patient names and any identifiable case details. A photo is common for hospital roles in India but optional; date of birth and marital status are not needed. For wording help, see how to write resume experience.
