Pharmacy council registration and drug licence details

Under the Pharmacy Act, only a registered pharmacist can dispense medicines, and every retail or hospital pharmacy licence names one. That is why recruiters ask for your registration before anything else. Write your State Pharmacy Council name, registration number and renewal status near the top, along with your qualification (D.Pharm, B.Pharm, M.Pharm or Pharm.D).

If you have been the registered pharmacist on a drug licence, say so. It tells a chain or hospital you understand the responsibility of being the person whose name the drug inspector checks.

Pharmacists who have moved states should mention whether their registration has been transferred to the new State Pharmacy Council. A missing or expired renewal is one of the most common reasons an otherwise good pharmacist is held back at the document verification stage, so keep your renewal receipt ready as well.

Hospital pharmacist vs retail pharmacist bullets

Tailor your resume to the setting. Hospital pharmacy recruiters look for prescription verification, ward supply, IV admixture or oncology dispensing, narcotic registers, formulary work and ADR reporting. Retail chains care about daily footfall, billing accuracy, stock control, expiry management and repeat customers.

  • Weak: Handled pharmacy and medicine stock.
  • Strong: Cut expired stock write-offs by 42% with FEFO picking and a monthly near-expiry report.
  • Strong: Dispensed for 200 walk-in customers a day with billing errors below 0.5%.

Mention the software you used, such as Marg ERP or a hospital HIS, because chains prefer pharmacists who need no system training.

Compliance and counselling skills to highlight

Inspections are a big part of a pharmacist's job. Show that you maintain Schedule H1 and narcotic registers, store cold-chain items like insulin and vaccines correctly and keep purchase and sale records ready for the drug inspector. If your pharmacy passed NABH or drug inspector audits, add that.

Patient counselling is another differentiator: inhaler technique, insulin storage, anticoagulant precautions or antibiotic adherence. Freshers should list their hospital or industrial training, the departments covered and any pharmacovigilance or PvPI awareness programme they attended.

Format and template for healthcare resumes

Hospital HR teams, diagnostic chains and pharma recruiters check eligibility before anything else, so make it easy to find. Put your registration details in the header or a short "Registration and licences" line: council name, registration number and validity, for example State Nursing Council, NMC or State Medical Council, State Pharmacy Council, Dental Council or RCI. Add life-support and safety credentials such as BLS, ACLS, PALS or AERB radiation-safety training with the year they were completed or renewed.

Use a clean one- or two-page layout with standard headings: Summary, Registration, Clinical Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications. Name the department, bed strength or setting (ICU, OPD, casualty, NABL lab, GMP plant) for every job. Leave out patient names and any identifiable case details. A photo is common for hospital roles in India but optional; date of birth and marital status are not needed. For wording help, see how to write resume experience.
