Fitter Resume Example for India

Make clear what kind of fitter you are

"Fitter" means different jobs in different industries. A maintenance fitter in a steel or cement plant overhauls pumps, gearboxes and conveyors; a pipe fitter prepares and fits spools on project sites; a structural fitter does fit-up for fabrication. Recruiters, especially Gulf agencies, hire for one of these, so state it in your job title line, for example "Mechanical Maintenance Fitter" or "Pipe Fitter".

Then list the equipment you have maintained and the industry. Steel, cement, power, sugar and chemical plants value experience in their own environment because the hazards and the machines are familiar. One clear line such as "conveyors, crushers, pumps and gearboxes in a steel plant" is better than a page of tools.

Fitter bullets that show reliability

Maintenance managers care about equipment that keeps running after you touch it. Write bullets that show the number of jobs, the outcome and how long the fix lasted.

• Weak: "Did maintenance of pumps."
• Strong: "Overhauled 26 centrifugal pumps in 2025 with no repeat failure within 6 months."
• Strong: "Laser alignment on conveyor drives reduced vibration complaints by about 40%."

Mention shutdown experience separately with the number and duration of shutdowns, because companies plan shutdown manpower months in advance. If you also do gas cutting or basic welding, add it; a fitter who can handle small fabrication jobs saves the team time.

Apprenticeship, safety and overseas fitter jobs

Write your ITI Fitter trade with NCVT or SCVT and add your National Apprenticeship Certificate if you have one; PSU and large plant contractors often prefer apprenticeship-trained fitters. Safety training such as working at height, confined space and permit to work should appear on every fitter resume.

For Gulf jobs, mention the industry and type of fitter work clearly, and list GCC experience with country and years. Add passport details only when the agency asks. Freshers should describe ITI practical jobs such as filing, drilling, tapping and assembly, plus any apprenticeship. Keep the format simple and one page so it prints cleanly at a contractor's office.

Format and template for technician resumes

Technician and trade hiring in India is usually handled by plant HR teams, contractors, manpower consultants and Gulf recruitment agencies who look at hundreds of resumes for one opening. A simple one-page layout with clear headings works best: Summary, Trade and Licences, Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications. Put your ITI trade (NCVT or SCVT), diploma, apprenticeship and any licence near the top, with the licence class and validity, because many employers shortlist on these details alone.

Name the machines, tools, vehicles or equipment you have handled, and list safety training such as first aid, fire safety, working at height or lockout-tagout. Add passport number, expiry date and ECR/ECNR status only when you apply for Gulf or overseas jobs and the agency asks for it; leave it off resumes for Indian employers.
