Show your PSARA training and verification

Under the Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005, licensed agencies must deploy guards who have completed the prescribed training and police verification. Agencies and clients check this first, so list your security guard training under Certifications with the institute type and year, and write "police verification completed" if it has been done.

If you are an ex-serviceman, write your service, rank and years of service in the summary; many agencies and banks prefer ex-servicemen for supervisor and armed roles. Add an NSQF certificate from the Security Sector Skill Development Council if you have one, plus first aid and fire safety training. These small lines often decide who gets the better-paying corporate posting.

Describe each security post clearly

The type of site tells a recruiter what you can handle. An IT park needs access cards and visitor systems, a hospital needs crowd and emergency handling, a factory needs material gate checks and a residential society needs polite resident service. Write the site type and size in every job.

  • Weak: "Did security duty."
  • Strong: "Managed the main gate of an IT park with about 3,500 employees, including visitor passes and vehicle entry."
  • Strong: "Monitored 48 CCTV cameras on night shifts and coordinated 6 patrolling guards."

Mention registers you maintain, incidents handled with written reports and fire drills attended. Never share confidential client details; a general description of the site is enough.

Moving up from security guard to supervisor

If you want a lead guard or supervisor role, show that you already handle more than your own post. Mention shift briefings, training new guards, duty rosters, handling client complaints or preparing daily occurrence reports. Even one bullet on leading a small team helps.

Freshers should write their 10th or 12th details, completed guard training, physical fitness and willingness to do rotational and night shifts. Add languages, since guards who speak the local language and basic English are preferred at corporate sites. Gulf security jobs often ask for height, fitness and earlier experience; include passport details only when the agency asks. Keep the resume to one neat page with no photo unless requested.

Format and template for technician resumes

Technician and trade hiring in India is usually handled by plant HR teams, contractors, manpower consultants and Gulf recruitment agencies who look at hundreds of resumes for one opening. A simple one-page layout with clear headings works best: Summary, Trade and Licences, Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications. Put your ITI trade (NCVT or SCVT), diploma, apprenticeship and any licence near the top, with the licence class and validity, because many employers shortlist on these details alone.

Name the machines, tools, vehicles or equipment you have handled, and list safety training such as first aid, fire safety, working at height or lockout-tagout. Add passport number, expiry date and ECR/ECNR status only when you apply for Gulf or overseas jobs and the agency asks for it; leave it off resumes for Indian employers. Skip the photo unless it is requested. For the basic structure, see how to make a resume.
