Name the machines in your machine operator resume

"Machine operator" is used for hundreds of different machines, so recruiters look for the exact type: injection moulding, power press, CNC, packaging, textile looms, printing machines or bottling lines. Write the machine type and size in your job title or first bullet, for example "150 and 250-tonne injection moulding machines" or "mechanical power press up to 200 tonnes".

Also mention the industry and product: auto parts, consumer electronics, pharma packaging, FMCG or garments. Plant HR teams in industrial areas such as SIDCUL, Manesar, Chakan or Sriperumbudur hire many operators at once and shortlist those whose machine and industry match. A clear first line saves them time and puts you at the top of the pile.

Output, quality and safety numbers for operators

Supervisors care about three things: did you meet the shift target, were the parts good, and did you work safely. Show each one.

  • Weak: "Worked on production line."
  • Strong: "Achieve 98% of shift targets, about 1,600 parts a shift, with rejection under 1.2%."
  • Strong: "Helped cut mould changeover time from 75 to 45 minutes using SMED checklists."

Add the quality checks you perform, such as first-piece approval, hourly checksheets and limit samples, and the instruments you use. Mention 5S, Kaizen suggestions or TPM activities, because these are audited regularly in organised plants and show you take ownership of your area. A line on attendance or zero safety incidents also helps.

Apprentices and freshers applying as machine operators

Many operators start through NAPS or NEEM apprenticeships, and that experience counts. List the apprenticeship as a job with its dates, company and the machines you were trained on, and add the apprenticeship certificate under Certifications.

Write your ITI trade, such as Plastic Processing Operator, Fitter or Machinist, with NCVT or SCVT, and your 10th or 12th details. If you are willing to work in rotational shifts or relocate to another industrial area, say so in the summary; plants value this. Avoid long career objectives and personal details such as religion or caste. A clean one-page resume with machines, numbers and training is all you need.

Format and template for technician resumes

Technician and trade hiring in India is usually handled by plant HR teams, contractors, manpower consultants and Gulf recruitment agencies who look at hundreds of resumes for one opening. A simple one-page layout with clear headings works best: Summary, Trade and Licences, Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications. Put your ITI trade (NCVT or SCVT), diploma, apprenticeship and any licence near the top, with the licence class and validity, because many employers shortlist on these details alone.

Name the machines, tools, vehicles or equipment you have handled, and list safety training such as first aid, fire safety, working at height or lockout-tagout. Add passport number, expiry date and ECR/ECNR status only when you apply for Gulf or overseas jobs and the agency asks for it; leave it off resumes for Indian employers. Skip the photo unless it is requested. For the basic structure, see how to make a resume.
