Lead your inventory controller resume with accuracy figures

An inventory controller exists to make the system match reality, so accuracy is the number recruiters want to see first. State the scale (warehouses, stores, SKUs, stock value) and the accuracy you maintain, along with the method used to measure it.

A summary line like "Inventory controller with 5 years in retail, maintaining 99.2% SKU-level accuracy across 8,000+ SKUs" works far better than "responsible for inventory management". Mention the industry clearly, because retail, pharma, auto spares and e-commerce each have different stock rules, such as batch and expiry control in pharma.

Shrinkage, ageing and reorder results

Beyond accuracy, employers look for controllers who protect working capital. Strong bullets show money saved or released:

  • Reduced shrinkage from 1.1% to 0.6% of sales by investigating variances store by store.
  • Cleared ₹2.3 crore of stock older than 180 days through a monthly ageing review.
  • Cut stock-outs by 30% after setting min-max levels for fast movers.

Explain your tools briefly: ABC or XYZ classification, cycle-count calendars, blind counts, variance root-cause logs. Hiring managers often ask you to walk through one investigation, so choose examples you can explain step by step, from spotting the variance to fixing the process that caused it.

ERP, Excel and audit skills for stock control roles

Name the ERP and modules you use, such as SAP MM and WM, Oracle inventory, Microsoft Dynamics or Tally Prime, plus the reports you build. Advanced Excel is almost always tested for inventory jobs, so mention pivot tables, XLOOKUP and Power Query if you use them; Power BI dashboards are a bonus.

Audit support is another strength to highlight: stock statements for bank drawing power, statutory audit physical verification and GST stock reconciliation. Store keepers and warehouse executives moving into this role should focus on reconciliation work and analytics rather than daily receiving. Freshers with a commerce degree can show an internship in a stores or audit team and a strong Excel or Power BI project built on sample stock data. Our resume skills guide explains how to separate tools from core skills.

Format and template for operations resumes

Operations and supply chain hiring in India is driven by numbers: on-time dispatch, inventory accuracy, cost per shipment, fill rate, OTIF and audit scores. Use a clean single-column layout with standard headings (Summary, Skills, Experience, Education, Certifications) so Naukri, LinkedIn and company ATS tools can parse it, and let each experience bullet carry at least one measurable result.

Name the systems you actually use, such as SAP MM, SAP WM or EWM, Oracle, Tally Prime, a WMS or TMS, and Excel with pivot tables. Mention the scale of your work: number of SKUs, warehouse area in sq ft, monthly purchase value, fleet size or containers handled. One page works up to about five years of experience; managers can use two. Skip photo, date of birth and declaration unless the employer asks. See our guide on writing resume experience for help turning daily duties into results.
