What factory supervisors look for in an ITI fresher resume

An ITI resume is usually read by a plant HR executive or a contractor's supervisor who has one question: can this person do the trade work safely from the first day? Most of them do not care about long objectives. Put your trade, NCVT or SCVT status, passing year and percentage in the first line, followed by your apprenticeship.

Then list the tools and jobs you can handle. For a fitter, that means measuring instruments, drilling and tapping, assembly, alignment and preventive maintenance. For an electrician, it means wiring, motor rewinding and panel work. For a welder, list the processes (arc, MIG, TIG), positions and materials. A plain list of practical skills is far more useful than words like hard-working or sincere.

Making your ITI apprenticeship the strongest section

A one-year apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act is real industrial experience, so write it like a job. Give the company, department and months, then three or four bullets with numbers:

• "Inspected 300+ forged parts a week with vernier and micrometer."
• "Helped overhaul 6 gearboxes and pumps during breakdowns."
• "Followed LOTO and 5S; received the monthly safety badge twice."

If you have not done an apprenticeship yet, register on the national apprenticeship portal and mention workshop practicals, small repair jobs or family business work instead. Recruiters understand that ITI freshers start on the shop floor and learn quickly under a senior technician.

Certificates, documents and simple formatting for ITI jobs

Write the exact certificate names: National Trade Certificate (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC). Many employers, including railway and PSU contractors, check these at document verification, so make sure the trade name and year on your resume match the certificates.

Keep the resume to one page in a simple layout, because many ITI applications are shared as printouts or as PDFs on WhatsApp. Include your Class 10 board and marks, the languages you speak on the shop floor, and your willingness for shift work or relocation if it is true. Leave out photo, father's name and religion unless the employer specifically asks for them. A neat, correctly spelled resume already puts you ahead of many applicants at walk-in drives.

Format and template for fresher resumes

Recruiters at campus drives and on Naukri spend only a few seconds on a fresher resume, so keep it to one page. Because you have little or no work history, put Education right after a two-line summary: degree, college, university, year and CGPA or percentage, followed by Class 12 and Class 10 rows with board and marks. Many Indian employers still screen on a 60% or 6.0 CGPA cut-off across 10th, 12th and graduation, so missing marks look like you are hiding something.

Next come Projects and Internships, which is where you prove skills. Give each project a title, your role, the tools used and one measurable result. Then add certifications (NPTEL, Tally, NSDC, Google), skills, achievements and languages.
