Make your KYC analyst resume show case types and volume

KYC hiring managers in banks, GCCs and fintechs want to see what kind of cases you handle and how many. Say whether you work on retail, corporate, institutional or correspondent banking clients, and whether your cases are onboarding, periodic review, remediation or enhanced due diligence.

Add monthly productivity and quality: "Complete 70 to 80 corporate CDD cases a month with a 99% quality score" is exactly the kind of line team leads look for. Mention the regions you support, such as the UK, EU, US or Middle East, because each has different regulations and documentation norms.

If you have handled complex structures such as trusts, funds or multi-layer holding companies, call that out separately; it is a clear sign that you are ready for senior analyst work.

Demonstrating judgement in screening and escalation

KYC is not just collecting documents. Show that you can spot risk and escalate correctly.

  • Weak: "Did KYC checks for clients."
  • Strong: "Identified ultimate beneficial owners through multi-layer structures across 3 jurisdictions."
  • Strong: "Escalated 14 cases with material sanctions or adverse media risk to the EDD team."

Name the screening tools you use, such as World-Check, Dow Jones, LexisNexis or internal systems, and the regulations you understand: RBI KYC directions, PMLA, FATF recommendations, or UK and EU AML rules. Never include real client names or case details on your resume.

Breaking into KYC and AML as a fresher

Commerce, finance and law graduates often start as KYC analysts. Freshers should add an AML or KYC certification, such as the IIBF certificate in anti-money laundering and KYC, and projects or internships related to compliance, risk or banking operations.

Show strong research and writing skills, because KYC cases end in a written risk summary. Mention willingness to work shifts if you apply to global operations centres. Typing accuracy, comfort with checklists and steady productivity during your first months matter a great deal in this role. For growth, aim for EDD, transaction monitoring or quality control roles, and consider CAMS once you have experience. Our resume for freshers guide explains how to present projects when work experience is short.

Format and template for finance and banking resumes

Finance recruiters, bank HR teams and CA firm partners expect a conservative, easy-to-audit resume. Use a single-column or restrained two-column layout with standard headings: Summary, Key Skills, Experience, Education, Professional Qualifications and Certifications. Avoid heavy colour, graphics and skill bars, because many banks and NBFCs screen applications through an applicant tracking system first.

Put professional qualifications (CA, CMA, CS, CFA, NISM, IRDAI, IIBF) near the top with the level cleared and the year, and add your membership number only if the role requires it. Write numbers the Indian way, in lakh and crore, and attach a scale to every bullet: portfolio size, number of ledgers, loan files, audit observations or closing days. Keep it to one page for under five years of experience and two pages for managers. Leave out photo, date of birth and a declaration unless the employer asks. Before uploading to Naukri or a bank portal, check the ATS-friendly resume guide.
