Lead your loan officer resume with disbursal numbers
Sales heads in banks, HFCs and NBFCs read loan officer resumes for one number first: monthly disbursals. Put your average monthly or annual disbursal value, the products (home loans, LAP, business loans, gold loans, vehicle loans) and target achievement percentage in your summary.
"Loan officer disbursing about ₹2.2 crore a month in home loans and LAP, at 112% of target" is far stronger than "result-oriented banking professional". Add the market you cover; many lenders hire for a specific city or cluster and prefer candidates who already know local builders and DSAs.
If you have worked across more than one product, list the share of each, because a housing finance company will value home-loan depth while an NBFC hiring for business loans will look for experience with self-employed borrowers.
Quality of files, not just quantity
Lenders lose money on poorly sourced files, so show that your logins get approved and repay on time.
- Weak: "Generated leads and processed loan files."
- Strong: "Raised the login-to-disbursal ratio from 58% to 71% by checking FOIR, LTV and CIBIL before login."
- Strong: "Kept 30+ DPD in sourced cases below 2%."
Mention zero or low audit observations on documentation, and the channels you built: DSAs, connectors, builder tie-ups and branch referrals. These show that you can keep business flowing without compromising compliance.
Skills and qualifications for lending sales roles
A graduate degree is usually enough, and BBA, B.Com or MBA in finance helps. List practical skills such as eligibility calculation, document verification, property paper basics, loan origination software and Excel. Local language skills matter in field sales, so include them.
Freshers can start as sales officers or relationship officers in retail lending; show any field sales, telecalling or customer-facing work and a two-wheeler and smartphone if the job involves travel. Avoid listing salary or incentive figures. If you have moved between products, explain it briefly with numbers in each role. The ATS-friendly resume guide explains how to keep keywords like "home loan" and "LAP" visible to screening tools.
Format and template for finance and banking resumes
Finance recruiters, bank HR teams and CA firm partners expect a conservative, easy-to-audit resume. Use a single-column or restrained two-column layout with standard headings: Summary, Key Skills, Experience, Education, Professional Qualifications and Certifications. Avoid heavy colour, graphics and skill bars, because many banks and NBFCs screen applications through an applicant tracking system first.
Put professional qualifications (CA, CMA, CS, CFA, NISM, IRDAI, IIBF) near the top with the level cleared and the year, and add your membership number only if the role requires it. Write numbers the Indian way, in lakh and crore, and attach a scale to every bullet: portfolio size, number of ledgers, loan files, audit observations or closing days. Keep it to one page for under five years of experience and two pages for managers. Leave out photo, date of birth and a declaration unless the employer asks. Before uploading to Naukri or a bank portal, check the ATS-friendly resume guide.
