What a logistics executive resume must show

Logistics executive roles are about execution: getting the right vehicle, the right documents and the right delivery date every day. Recruiters at manufacturers, distributors and 3PL companies scan for daily volume, routes, modes (FTL, PTL, courier, rail) and the systems you use. Put these in your summary and first bullets.

Write "Plan 40 to 55 FTL and PTL dispatches a day across North India" instead of "handling logistics activities". The first version tells the reader the scale and type of work in one line. Mention whether you handle primary movement from plant to depot, secondary delivery to dealers or last-mile courier shipments, because each needs slightly different experience and recruiters filter for it.

Show compliance with e-way bills and GST paperwork

Compliance mistakes cost money in Indian logistics, so employers value executives who get documents right. Mention e-way bill generation and extension, delivery challans, tax invoices, LR or consignment notes and POD collection. If you reduced detentions at checkposts, penalties or missing PODs, put a number on it.

Useful examples:

  • Generated e-way bills for 1,200+ consignments a month with zero penalty cases.
  • Cut pending PODs from 180 to 25 by setting up a weekly transporter follow-up.
  • Recovered ₹6.2 lakh by auditing freight bills against rate contracts.

These bullets prove you protect the company from cost leakage, not just book trucks.

Fresher and early-career logistics executive tips

If you are a B.Com, BBA or diploma fresher, list any internship at a transporter, courier hub, C&F agent or warehouse and describe what you actually did, such as preparing dispatch MIS or tracking shipments. A short certificate in logistics or a NPTEL course in supply chain also helps you stand out.

Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, pivot tables) is tested in many interviews, so list it only if you can use it confidently. Add regional languages you speak because you will talk to drivers and transporters daily. Avoid a long list of soft skills; one or two examples of handling a delayed truck or a damaged consignment say more.

Format and template for operations resumes

Operations and supply chain hiring in India is driven by numbers: on-time dispatch, inventory accuracy, cost per shipment, fill rate, OTIF and audit scores. Use a clean single-column layout with standard headings (Summary, Skills, Experience, Education, Certifications) so Naukri, LinkedIn and company ATS tools can parse it, and let each experience bullet carry at least one measurable result.

Name the systems you actually use, such as SAP MM, SAP WM or EWM, Oracle, Tally Prime, a WMS or TMS, and Excel with pivot tables. Mention the scale of your work: number of SKUs, warehouse area in sq ft, monthly purchase value, fleet size or containers handled. One page works up to about five years of experience; managers can use two. Skip photo, date of birth and declaration unless the employer asks.
