What employers check on a store keeper resume

Factories, construction contractors, hospitals and hotels hire store keepers they can trust with stock worth lakhs or crores. The resume should quickly show three things: what type of store you handled (engineering spares, raw material, site material, medical consumables), how many items and what value, and how accurate your records were.

Instead of "maintained stores", write "Manage engineering store with 2,500+ items worth about ₹6 crore and keep stock difference below 0.5% at quarterly verification." This single line answers the questions an HR or plant head asks first. If your store holds special items such as gas cylinders, chemicals, medicines or high-value spares under lock, mention it because it shows extra responsibility.

Store keeper duties written as achievements

Daily duties such as GRN, issue against indent and bin card updates are expected. Turn them into results by adding speed, accuracy or savings:

• Posted GRN and goods issue in SAP within the same shift, with zero backlog at month-end.
• Set up bin location coding and cut search time for urgent spares from 30 to 5 minutes.
• Identified ₹18 lakh of non-moving stock for transfer or disposal.

Mention site and audit work too: matching challans with weighbridge slips, supporting statutory or internal audits, and preparing material reconciliation for contractors. These show that you protect the company from loss and theft.

Software, education and first-job advice for stores

Store keeper jobs in India usually ask for a graduate (often B.Com) or a diploma, and many factories prefer candidates who know Tally Prime, SAP MM stores transactions or a local ERP. Name the exact software and the entries you post, such as MIGO for receipt or MB52 for stock checks. Basic Excel for stock statements is also expected.

If you are applying for your first store job, mention any experience in a shop, distributor godown or site office, and a Tally certificate if you have one. Add the regional languages you speak, since you will deal with drivers, contractors and shop-floor staff. Keep the resume to one page and avoid long declarations or personal details beyond your contact information.
