Use your state's Gram Panchayat Secretary title

The post has different names across India: Panchayat Secretary in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Gram Sevak in Maharashtra, Panchayat Development Officer in Karnataka, Gram Vikas Adhikari in Rajasthan, Gram Panchayat Adhikari in Uttar Pradesh and Panchayat Sachiv in some other states. Use your official title, then add a plain description in the summary so readers from other states, NGOs or CSR teams understand it.

Mention the population, number of wards or villages and the size of the budget you handle. That gives a quick sense of your scale and responsibility. If you have also held additional charge of a neighbouring panchayat, list it, because handling two panchayats at once shows that you can manage a heavier workload.

Scheme results and finance records for panchayat work

Panchayat work is mostly scheme implementation and public money, so show results and compliance:

  • Weak: "Doing all panchayat work as per government orders."
  • Strong: "Raised property tax collection from 71% to 94% of demand in 2 years; uploaded GPDP and Finance Commission grant expenditure on eGramSwaraj with PFMS payments."

Name the systems you use (eGramSwaraj, PFMS, the MGNREGA management information system, state birth and death registration portals) and the schemes you have implemented, such as MGNREGA, Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), PMAY-G or state rural programmes. Mention clean audit reports, social audits handled and Gram Sabha meetings conducted. Avoid naming beneficiaries or sharing internal audit objections.

Using the CV for deputation, projects and new roles

Serving panchayat secretaries usually need a CV for deputation, state rural livelihood mission or rural development project posts, NGO and CSR roles, or higher studies. If you are still in service, check whether you must apply through proper channel and obtain an NOC before applying elsewhere.

Keep the CV formal and two pages long. Match dates with your appointment order, probation completion or regularisation order and service book, since these are checked. List SIRD or district trainings, computer skills and languages. If the advertisement asks for a declaration, end with a signed statement, place and date. Our guide on how to make a resume covers the basic structure.

Format for government and PSU job resumes

Government offices, PSUs, research institutes and NGOs running public projects still prefer a formal, single-column CV with plain headings: Personal Details, Educational Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Declaration. Many advertisements ask for details that private employers do not, such as date of birth, category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) or father's name. Add these only when the advertisement or prescribed format asks for them, and attach a category certificate only if it is requested.

Make sure every date, percentage and name on your CV matches the online application form and your certificates exactly, because scrutiny committees reject mismatches. Keep self-attested copies of mark sheets, experience letters and certificates ready in the order they appear on the CV. If the advertisement asks for a declaration, end with a short signed statement that the information is true, with place and date. For writing the experience section, see our guide on how to write resume experience.
