Show the plumbing systems you can install

A builder hiring a plumber wants to know which pipe materials and systems you have actually worked on. Do not write "all plumbing work". Name the materials (CPVC, UPVC, GI, HDPE, PPR, cast iron), the systems (water supply, drainage, soil and waste lines, rainwater, fire hydrant lines) and the type of building: flats, hospitals, hotels, malls or factories.

Add one line about drawings. Plumbers who can read plumbing layouts, mark sleeves before slab casting and prepare a material list are paid more and often move up to foreman. If you have done solvent-cement jointing, threading or HDPE butt fusion, say so in plain words because these are the exact skills tested in interviews.

Plumber resume bullets with real numbers

Numbers make a plumber's resume believable. Count flats, floors, toilets, beds or tickets, and mention test pressures and results.

• Weak: "Did plumbing in a residential project."
• Strong: "Installed supply and drainage shafts for 320 flats across 2 towers; post-possession leak complaints under 2%."
• Strong: "Closed 90% of hospital plumbing complaints within the same shift."

If you work in maintenance, mention response time and preventive work such as tank cleaning schedules, flush-valve servicing or pump changeover. If you supervise helpers, give the team size. Avoid long lists of hand tools; a line such as "pipe threading machine, pressure test pump, drain cleaning machine" is enough.

Certificates and overseas plumber applications

List your ITI Plumber trade with NCVT or SCVT, or an NSQF certificate from the Indian Plumbing Skills Council if you trained through a skill programme. These are often checked by Gulf agencies, and Saudi-bound plumbers may need to pass the Skill Verification Program. Add working-at-height or site safety induction if you have it.

For overseas jobs, include passport details only when the agency asks, and mention earlier GCC work with the country and years. Freshers should list the ITI practical work, any apprenticeship and the materials used during training. Keep the resume to one page and write it in simple English; recruiters care more about clear facts than long sentences.

Format and template for technician resumes

Technician and trade hiring in India is usually handled by plant HR teams, contractors, manpower consultants and Gulf recruitment agencies who look at hundreds of resumes for one opening. A simple one-page layout with clear headings works best: Summary, Trade and Licences, Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications. Put your ITI trade (NCVT or SCVT), diploma, apprenticeship and any licence near the top, with the licence class and validity, because many employers shortlist on these details alone.

Name the machines, tools, vehicles or equipment you have handled, and list safety training such as first aid, fire safety, working at height or lockout-tagout. Add passport number, expiry date and ECR/ECNR status only when you apply for Gulf or overseas jobs and the agency asks for it; leave it off resumes for Indian employers.
