Make it clear what kind of Python developer you are
Python jobs in India range from Django web backends to data pipelines, test automation and machine learning. A recruiter searching Naukri for a "Python Django developer" will skip a resume that reads like a data science profile, so state your focus in the first line of the summary: backend web, automation scripting or data engineering.
Follow that with years of experience, your main framework (Django, FastAPI or Flask) and the business domain. "Python developer with 3 years building FastAPI services for a lending app" is specific enough to match a job description and gives the interviewer something to ask about. If you have worked across two areas, lead with the one that matches the job you are applying for and move the other to a short line lower down.
Python bullets that show backend impact
Weak bullets describe duties: "Worked on Django APIs" or "Responsible for writing Python scripts". Strong bullets add what you built, the scale and the result.
- Weak: Developed APIs using FastAPI.
- Strong: Built 9 FastAPI services for KYC and loan eligibility used by about 2 lakh customers a month.
- Weak: Used Celery for background jobs.
- Strong: Moved PDF generation to Celery workers and cut wait time from 11 seconds to under 2.
Good measures for Python work include response time, number of users or requests, test coverage, hours of manual work saved and failed jobs reduced. Automation scripts count too; a pandas script that removes six hours of weekly reconciliation is a real business result.
Listing frameworks, testing and deployment skills
Group your skills as Languages (Python, SQL), Frameworks (Django, DRF, FastAPI, Flask), Data stores (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB), Async and queues (Celery, RabbitMQ) and DevOps (Docker, Git, GitHub Actions, AWS). Interviewers for Python roles often ask about the GIL, async views, ORM performance and testing, so only list what you can explain.
Freshers should replace experience with two solid projects, for example a Django e-commerce app with a payment-gateway sandbox or a FastAPI service with JWT authentication, and link the GitHub repository. The PCEP or PCAP certificate from the Python Institute helps at entry level but will not replace project work. See the software developer resume guide for more layout ideas.
Format and template for IT resumes
Most IT applications in India go through Naukri, LinkedIn, company career portals or a vendor's applicant tracking system before a human reads them. Use a clean, single-column or light two-column layout with standard headings such as Summary, Skills, Experience, Projects, Education and Certifications, so the parser can read every section.
Keep the resume to one page if you have under four years of experience and two pages after that. Put your tech stack near the top, but group it (Languages, Frameworks, Databases, Cloud and Tools) instead of listing thirty logos. Add your GitHub, portfolio or LinkedIn link only if it is up to date. Leave out photo, date of birth, marital status and a declaration unless an employer specifically asks for them. Read our ATS-friendly resume guide before you upload to a job portal.
