What frontend hiring managers in India look for

Frontend interviews in India usually test three things: core JavaScript, your main framework, and how well you turn a design into a working, responsive screen. Your resume should prove all three. Name your framework and version (Angular 17, React 18 or Vue 3) in the summary, and mention TypeScript if you use it, because many job descriptions now make it mandatory.

Hiring managers also look for evidence that you care about quality, not just layouts. Lines about accessibility audits, Core Web Vitals, cross-browser testing or a shared component library suggest you can work in a mature product team. A link to a live portfolio or deployed project matters more for frontend roles than for most other IT jobs, because reviewers can open it and judge your work in a minute.

Frontend achievements you can measure

UI work feels hard to quantify, but browsers give you numbers. Use Lighthouse scores, bundle size, page-load time, the number of reusable components and the screens you delivered.

  • Weak: Developed UI pages using Angular.
  • Strong: Built 30+ reusable Angular components in Storybook, cutting new screen build time by about a third.
  • Weak: Improved website performance.
  • Strong: Reduced initial bundle size by 38% with lazy loading and image compression.

If you worked from Figma designs, say how many screens you converted and for which product. Accessibility fixes deserve a bullet of their own, especially for companies that serve global clients.

Fresher and early-career frontend resume tips

With under two years of experience, projects carry a lot of weight. Pick two or three that show different skills: a responsive landing page built from a design, an app that calls a REST API and handles loading and error states, and something with state management or offline support. Host them on a free platform and add the links.

Keep the skills section honest. Listing Angular, React, Vue, Svelte and jQuery together makes interviewers doubt your depth; choose one main framework and mention a second only if you have shipped something with it. Do not use a heavily designed resume just because you are a frontend developer; a clean, ATS-readable layout works better on job portals. Our fresher resume guide explains how to order sections when you are starting out.

Format and template for IT resumes

Most IT applications in India go through Naukri, LinkedIn, company career portals or a vendor's applicant tracking system before a human reads them. Use a clean, single-column or light two-column layout with standard headings such as Summary, Skills, Experience, Projects, Education and Certifications, so the parser can read every section.

Keep the resume to one page if you have under four years of experience and two pages after that. Put your tech stack near the top, but group it (Languages, Frameworks, Databases, Cloud and Tools) instead of listing thirty logos. Add your GitHub, portfolio or LinkedIn link only if it is up to date. Leave out photo, date of birth, marital status and a declaration unless an employer specifically asks for them. Read our ATS-friendly resume guide before you upload to a job portal.

Turn this sample into your own resume

Use this sample for structure and wording ideas, then replace every line with your own employers, dates, tools and results. Interviewers can ask about anything on your resume, so keep each claim specific and true.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, if it is live and current. A working portfolio or deployed project lets the hiring manager see your UI quality before the interview.
Both are in demand. React has more startup openings, while Angular is common in enterprise, banking and IT services projects, so match your resume to the jobs you target.
No. Recruiters and ATS tools read simple layouts more reliably. Show your design sense through your portfolio instead.
