Lead your Android resume with apps, not just skills
Android hiring managers want to see apps that real people use. Put your strongest numbers near the top: number of apps released, downloads, ratings and crash-free users from Firebase Crashlytics or Play Console vitals. A line such as "Released 4 apps on Google Play with 8 lakh+ downloads" tells a recruiter at once that you have handled production releases.
If an app is public, add its name or Play Store link in a project entry. For client apps under NDA, describe the category and scale instead, for example "grocery delivery app for a regional retail chain with 2 lakh monthly users". Mention whether you work only in Kotlin or still maintain Java code, because many Indian companies have mixed codebases.
Showing modern Android architecture
Interviewers often check whether your experience is current. Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and Flow, Hilt, Room and MVVM or Clean Architecture are the expected stack for most new Android projects. If you have migrated an app from XML to Compose, or from callbacks to Coroutines, write that as an achievement.
- Weak: Worked on Android app using Kotlin.
- Strong: Migrated the ordering app from XML to Jetpack Compose, cutting UI code by about 35%.
- Strong: Added an offline cart with Room and WorkManager, raising completed orders in low-network areas by 12%.
Offline support, performance on low-end devices and regional-language support matter a lot for Indian users, so highlight them whenever you have worked on them.
Android resume tips for freshers and switchers
Freshers should publish at least one app on Google Play or share a signed APK and GitHub repository. A small but complete app with an API, a local database, proper error handling and a clean architecture is better than five tutorial clones.
If you are moving from web or Java backend development, show transferable skills in a separate Android project section and list the courses you completed, such as Google's free Android Basics with Compose course. Keep your skills list focused on Android: Kotlin, Compose, Jetpack libraries, testing tools and Play Console. Leave out generic items like MS Office. For layout guidance, see our B.Tech fresher resume guide.
Format and template for IT resumes
Most IT applications in India go through Naukri, LinkedIn, company career portals or a vendor's applicant tracking system before a human reads them. Use a clean, single-column or light two-column layout with standard headings such as Summary, Skills, Experience, Projects, Education and Certifications, so the parser can read every section.
Keep the resume to one page if you have under four years of experience and two pages after that. Put your tech stack near the top, but group it (Languages, Frameworks, Databases, Cloud and Tools) instead of listing thirty logos. Add your GitHub, portfolio or LinkedIn link only if it is up to date. Leave out photo, date of birth, marital status and a declaration unless an employer specifically asks for them. Read our ATS-friendly resume guide before you upload to a job portal.
