Write your restaurant manager resume like a business owner

Restaurant owners and hospitality groups hire managers to protect the numbers. Your summary should state the format you run (QSR, café, casual dining, fine dining, bar), the size of the outlet in covers and staff, and the monthly or annual sales you are responsible for. "Running a 140-cover casual dining outlet with ₹62 lakh monthly sales" instantly sets your level.

Then show that you understand costs. Food cost, beverage cost, labour cost and wastage are the numbers owners discuss every month, so include before-and-after figures. If you hold P&L responsibility, say so clearly; if you only manage shifts, describe that honestly instead.

Ratings, delivery and openings: what proves your impact

Delivery is now a large share of revenue for many Indian restaurants, so recruiters value managers who can grow it profitably. Mention your Zomato and Swiggy ratings, delivery share of sales, order accuracy and prep time improvements. Google review ratings for dine-in matter too.

Strong bullets for this role often cover:

  • Sales growth over a period, with the starting and ending figure.
  • Cost percentages reduced through recipe control, stock takes or vendor changes.
  • New outlets opened, staff hired and trained, and licences arranged.
  • Audit results, including FSSAI, fire safety and brand standards.

If you have opened outlets, list the licences you handled (FSSAI, trade licence, liquor licence) without going into confidential details.

Moving from assistant manager to restaurant manager

If you are applying for your first full restaurant manager role, show the responsibilities you already carry: cash closing, rosters, vendor orders, staff training and handling escalations when the manager is away. Use numbers such as overtime reduced or events organised, because they show readiness for P&L ownership.

Senior managers and area managers should keep the resume to two pages and focus on the last 8 to 10 years. Remove routine duties such as "checked table setup" and replace them with outcomes. Mention tools you use daily, such as Petpooja, Posist or other POS systems, inventory software and Excel. A professional photo is optional; many owners prefer it, but a clear layout and strong numbers matter more.

Format and template for hospitality and retail resumes

Hospitality and retail recruiters read quickly, often on a phone between shifts, so a clean one-page layout with clear headings works best. Put your current role, property or store type and years of experience at the top, followed by measurable results such as guest scores, upselling, sales targets or audit ratings.

A professional photo is normal and often expected for guest-facing roles such as cabin crew, front office, guest relations and some luxury retail jobs. Use a recent, well-lit photo in grooming standards similar to the job. For back-office, BPO and kitchen roles, a photo is optional.

List languages with honest levels, because Hindi, English and a regional or foreign language are real advantages with tourists and customers. Mention shift flexibility, night shifts or readiness to relocate in your summary if it is true. For bullet ideas, see our guide on writing resume experience.
