State your SAP module, version and project types up front

SAP recruiters in India filter on three things before anything else: your module (FICO, MM, SD, PP, ABAP, Basis and so on), whether you know ECC, S/4HANA or both, and the type of projects you have done. Put all three in your summary: "SAP FICO consultant with 6 years, 2 full-cycle S/4HANA implementations and 1 conversion".

Implementation experience is valued more than support-only experience, so count your projects honestly and list each one with the client industry, your phase involvement (blueprint, realisation, testing, cutover, hypercare) and the go-live date if you can share it. If you have only worked in support, describe the configuration changes and enhancements you delivered rather than just ticket volumes.

SAP FICO bullets that show configuration depth

Generic bullets such as "Worked on FI module" or "Handled user issues" do not show your skill. Name the sub-modules, objects and results.

Indian localisation (GST, TDS, e-invoicing and e-way bills) is a major selling point for domestic projects, so mention it clearly. For CO, include cost centre, profit centre, internal order and product costing work, and show integration points with MM and SD, because interviewers test them heavily.

Breaking into SAP consulting with a finance background

Many SAP FICO consultants in India come from B.Com, M.Com, MBA Finance or CA backgrounds. If you are moving into SAP from accounting, highlight your end-user SAP experience, such as posting entries, running reports and month-end close, alongside any formal SAP training and certification.

Be careful with training-institute "project experience". Interviewers can tell when a candidate lists implementation projects they never worked on, and background verification will catch it. Instead, list your SAP training with the system version used and the scenarios you configured, and apply for support or junior consultant roles first. Format and template for IT resumes

Most IT applications in India go through Naukri, LinkedIn, company career portals or a vendor's applicant tracking system before a human reads them. Use a clean, single-column or light two-column layout with standard headings such as Summary, Skills, Experience, Projects, Education and Certifications, so the parser can read every section.

Keep the resume to one page if you have under four years of experience and two pages after that. Put your tech stack near the top, but group it (Languages, Frameworks, Databases, Cloud and Tools) instead of listing thirty logos.
