What a site engineer resume must prove
Project managers hiring a site engineer want to know one thing: can this person run a section of the site without constant supervision? Your resume should prove it with the type of site, the work packages you handled and the size of the workforce. Write "RCC and PEB works for a 42,000 sq m warehouse, 4 subcontractors, up to 180 workers" instead of "supervision of construction activities".
Mention the client or project type (industrial, residential, highway, metro, port) and whether you worked for a developer, an EPC contractor or a PMC, because each side looks for slightly different strengths. Contractors value speed and resource handling, while PMC firms value documentation and quality checks.
Site engineer bullets with schedule and safety numbers
The best site engineer bullets connect your daily work to schedule, quality and safety. Use numbers such as footings or slabs completed, days saved against the baseline, safe man-hours, NCRs closed and quantities certified.
- Completed 1,100 footings 12 days ahead of the baseline schedule.
- Recorded 3.2 lakh safe man-hours on my section.
- Maintained pour cards and JMRs accepted by the PMC without major remarks.
Avoid copying the job description. "Responsible for labour and material" says nothing about how well you did it. If a section went badly and you recovered it, that is often your strongest story, so write the recovery as a bullet and be ready to explain it in the interview.
Tools, documents and moving up from junior roles
Name the instruments and documents you are comfortable with: auto level, total station, DPR, pour card, checklist, JMR, RA bill support and material reconciliation. Recruiters on Naukri often search for "total station" or "PEB" directly, so standard spelling matters.
Freshers and diploma holders should list internship sites, surveying camps and any summer work with a contractor, with the activities they actually did. When you want to move from junior site engineer to senior or section in-charge, show the extra responsibility you already handle, such as planning the next week's work or checking subcontractor bills. Keep the resume to one page until you have about five years on site, and see our experience writing guide for more bullet ideas.
Format and template for engineering resumes
Plant heads, project managers and HR teams at manufacturing, infrastructure and EPC companies usually shortlist from Naukri, LinkedIn or a referral, often on a phone between shifts or site visits. A clean, single-column layout with clear headings such as Summary, Technical Skills, Experience, Projects, Education and Certifications works best, and it also passes applicant tracking systems used by larger groups.
Lead each job with the plant, site or product you handled: "two-wheeler chassis line, 1,200 units a day" or "G+14 residential tower, 2.1 lakh sq ft". Then show results in numbers recruiters understand: OEE, PPM rejection, downtime hours, cost saved, schedule met, safe man-hours. List software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, STAAD.Pro, SAP, Primavera) and standards (IS codes, ISO 9001, IATF 16949) by their exact names. Keep it to one page under five years of experience and two pages after that. A photo and date of birth are optional; leave them out unless the employer asks.
