Explain the size of the treasury you support

Treasury roles range from daily cash operations in a shared service centre to FX and funding decisions in a corporate treasury. Make the scope clear: number of bank accounts and entities, size of surplus funds, currencies and the value of foreign exchange exposure you track.

"Treasury analyst managing cash across 14 bank accounts and hedging about USD 30 million of annual exposure" positions you well. Mention whether you follow a board-approved hedging or investment policy, because it shows you understand governance and limits, not just execution.

If you have worked through events like a large capex payment, an acquisition or a sudden currency move, mention how you kept liquidity steady; such examples show judgement that routine reporting does not.

Treasury analyst bullets on accuracy, yield and control

Good treasury bullets show forecast accuracy, investment returns, cost savings and control.

  • Weak: "Responsible for daily cash reporting."
  • Strong: "Built a 13-week cash forecast with 94% accuracy that guided working capital drawdowns."
  • Strong: "Invested ₹40 to 90 crore of surplus funds and added ₹1.4 crore of treasury income."

Also mention LC and bank guarantee handling, limit renewals, reconciliation breaks cleared and automation of bank reports. These show that you keep cash moving safely and save time for the team. If you helped negotiate better bank charges or interest rates, include the saving as well.

Certifications and tools for treasury careers

NISM currency derivatives, FRM, CFA levels and IIBF treasury certificates are useful signals for treasury roles. List them with dates. Name the systems you use: SAP treasury modules, Kyriba or similar TMS platforms, bank portals and Bloomberg or Reuters for market rates.

Freshers can enter through treasury operations or cash management roles in banks and GCCs; highlight reconciliation accuracy, Excel skills and interest in markets. If you move from a bank's treasury desk to a corporate, explain how your market knowledge helps with hedging and investments. Show that you understand controls such as maker-checker approvals and bank mandate changes, since treasury errors are costly. The resume skills guide helps you choose the most relevant tools.

Format and template for finance and banking resumes

Finance recruiters, bank HR teams and CA firm partners expect a conservative, easy-to-audit resume. Use a single-column or restrained two-column layout with standard headings: Summary, Key Skills, Experience, Education, Professional Qualifications and Certifications. Avoid heavy colour, graphics and skill bars, because many banks and NBFCs screen applications through an applicant tracking system first.

Put professional qualifications (CA, CMA, CS, CFA, NISM, IRDAI, IIBF) near the top with the level cleared and the year, and add your membership number only if the role requires it. Write numbers the Indian way, in lakh and crore, and attach a scale to every bullet: portfolio size, number of ledgers, loan files, audit observations or closing days. Keep it to one page for under five years of experience and two pages for managers. Leave out photo, date of birth and a declaration unless the employer asks. Before uploading to Naukri or a bank portal, check the ATS-friendly resume guide.
