Positioning a BBA fresher resume for the right role

A BBA is broad, which is both a strength and a problem. Recruiters for sales, operations, HR and customer success all hire BBA freshers, but a resume that says "seeking a challenging position in a reputed organisation" fits none of them. Decide on one or two target roles and write your summary for them.

For business development, highlight customer interaction, field surveys and any target you met. For operations, show reports you built, processes you documented and numbers you tracked. For HR, mention recruitment drives you helped with, onboarding paperwork or an HR analytics project. Your specialisation (marketing, finance, HR or international business) should appear in the education line.

Making a short BBA internship count

Most BBA internships last four to eight weeks, so recruiters do not expect large achievements. They do expect specifics. Replace duty lists with outcomes:

• Weak: "Responsible for inventory and customer service."
• Strong: "Built an Excel stock-out report for 4 stores that cut weekly stock-outs of the top 50 SKUs by 22%."

If you interned at a family business, it still counts; describe it like any other employer and be ready to explain your actual tasks. A research project with a real survey sample can sit next to the internship, especially if you used Excel, SPSS or Google Sheets to analyse the data.

Skills and extras that help BBA graduates in India

Most entry-level BBA jobs involve Excel reports, CRM updates and customer calls, so practical tool skills matter more than theory subjects. List the Excel functions you actually use, a CRM such as Zoho or Salesforce if you have worked in one, and your presentation tools.

Add certifications only if they connect to the job: digital marketing for marketing roles, Excel or Power BI for operations and MIS, and payroll basics for HR roles. Include Class 10 and Class 12 marks with the board, as many companies screen on them for graduate trainee programmes. College fest coordination, NSS or NCC can go under achievements in one line each. Recruiters at campus drives and on Naukri spend only a few seconds on a fresher resume, so keep it to one page. Because you have little or no work history, put Education right after a two-line summary: degree, college, university, year and CGPA or percentage, followed by Class 12 and Class 10 rows with board and marks. Many Indian employers still screen on a 60% or 6.0 CGPA cut-off across 10th, 12th and graduation, so missing marks look like you are hiding something.

Next come Projects and Internships, which is where you prove skills. Give each project a title, your role, the tools used and one measurable result. Then add certifications (NPTEL, Tally, NSDC, Google), skills, achievements and languages.
