What hotel HR looks for in a hotel management fresher resume

Hotel chains, resorts, cruise lines, QSR brands and airline catering units hire hotel management graduates through campus drives and management trainee programmes. HR managers look for four things: the core department you want (F&B service, front office, food production or housekeeping), the quality of your industrial training, grooming and communication, and food safety awareness.

State your preferred department in the summary but show exposure to all four, because most trainee programmes rotate you. "20 weeks of industrial training at a 180-room resort across F&B, front office, kitchen and housekeeping" is more convincing than a long list of duties.

Describing hotel industrial training with guest-service numbers

Your industrial training is the main experience section. Give volumes and systems for each department rather than generic duties:

• F&B: covers per shift, outlets worked, banquet events and their size.
• Front office: check-ins per shift, the PMS used (Opera, IDS or eZee), reservations handled.
• Kitchen: sections worked, HACCP logs maintained, covers prepared.

If a guest compliment, an upselling result or a mystery audit score mentions you, add it in one line. Hotels value evidence of guest feedback, and it shows you can handle pressure in peak season. Keep each department to one or two lines so the whole training block stays readable, and list the outlets by type (all-day dining, specialty restaurant, bar, banquets) rather than by brand name.

Certifications, presentation and roles to target

An FSSAI FoSTaC food safety certificate, a responsible service of alcohol course and Opera PMS training are useful additions. If you plan to apply to cruise lines or Gulf hotels, keep your passport valid and mention it, but there is no need to add age, height or marital status on Indian applications.

Hotel management freshers can also apply for roles beyond hotels: cabin crew, guest relations in hospitals, retail customer experience and facilities management. Write a slightly different summary for each. Keep Class 10 and 12 marks with board names and a professional email address. Format and template for fresher resumes

Recruiters at campus drives and on Naukri spend only a few seconds on a fresher resume, so keep it to one page. Because you have little or no work history, put Education right after a two-line summary: degree, college, university, year and CGPA or percentage, followed by Class 12 and Class 10 rows with board and marks. Many Indian employers still screen on a 60% or 6.0 CGPA cut-off across 10th, 12th and graduation, so missing marks look like you are hiding something.

Next come Projects and Internships, which is where you prove skills. Give each project a title, your role, the tools used and one measurable result. Then add certifications (NPTEL, Tally, NSDC, Google), skills, achievements and languages.
