What hospitals check on a B.Sc Nursing fresher resume

Nursing superintendents and hospital HR teams shortlist freshers on three things: registration with the State Nursing Council (or proof that it is in process), BLS certification, and the clinical areas covered in your internship. Put all three in the first few lines. "Registered with the Mizoram Nursing Council, BLS certified, rotations in medicine, surgery, ICU, paediatrics and obstetrics" answers most screening questions at once.

Corporate hospital chains also check whether you are willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, and whether you can relocate. State this clearly if it is true, as many chains recruit centrally and post nurses to other cities.

Describing nursing internship rotations like real experience

Your internship is your experience, so describe it with numbers and procedures rather than a list of wards. Mention patient load per shift, procedures you performed under supervision and situations you escalated.

• Weak: "Worked in all departments during internship."
• Strong: "Cared for 6 to 8 patients per shift and escalated 11 early warning score alerts to the duty doctor."
• Strong: "Assisted in 20+ normal deliveries and taught newborn care to mothers."

Be careful with wording. Write "under supervision" for procedures such as IV cannulation or medication administration, because nursing interviewers will test what you actually did independently.

Council registration, certifications and plans to work abroad

Add your registration as "Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, Mizoram Nursing Council" with the year. Keep the registration number off the resume unless the hospital asks, and carry the certificate to the interview. BLS is expected; ACLS, PALS or NRP add value for ICU, emergency, paediatric and neonatal roles.

If you plan to work in the UK, the Gulf or elsewhere later, Indian hospital experience, an IELTS or OET score and specialised ward exposure matter most; there is no need to mention overseas plans on an Indian application. Keep the resume to one page, include Class 12 science marks, and leave out height, weight and religion. Format and template for fresher resumes

Recruiters at campus drives and on Naukri spend only a few seconds on a fresher resume, so keep it to one page. Because you have little or no work history, put Education right after a two-line summary: degree, college, university, year and CGPA or percentage, followed by Class 12 and Class 10 rows with board and marks. Many Indian employers still screen on a 60% or 6.0 CGPA cut-off across 10th, 12th and graduation, so missing marks look like you are hiding something.

Next come Projects and Internships, which is where you prove skills. Give each project a title, your role, the tools used and one measurable result. Then add certifications (NPTEL, Tally, NSDC, Google), skills, achievements and languages.
