How a BCA fresher resume competes with B.Tech applicants

IT services companies and startups often post one opening for "BCA, B.Tech or MCA freshers", so your resume sits in the same pile as engineering graduates. You win by showing finished, working software rather than a list of course subjects. A recruiter will skip "knowledge of C, C++, Java, Python, PHP" but will stop at "Built a Laravel library system used by our college library for one semester".

Lead with a two-line summary that names your strongest stack, your CGPA and the role you want: junior PHP developer, software trainee, QA trainee or technical support engineer. If companies on your list ask for 60% throughout, make sure your Class 10, Class 12 and BCA marks are all visible.

Writing BCA projects the way developers read them

For each project give the problem, the stack, your part in the team and one result. Two bullets are usually enough.

• Weak: "Made a library management system in PHP."
• Strong: "Designed 9 MySQL tables and fine-calculation logic for a 4,000-book library system in Laravel."

Link your GitHub only if the repository has a README, a sensible commit history and no copied tutorial code. Interviewers in Lucknow, Noida and Bengaluru commonly open one project and ask you to explain a function, so choose projects you wrote yourself. One deployed project beats five half-finished ones.

Skills, certifications and the MCA question

List skills in groups: Languages (PHP, JavaScript, Python), Frameworks (Laravel, Bootstrap), Database (MySQL) and Tools (Git, VS Code, Postman). Add data structures and OOPs only if you can solve basic coding questions, because an aptitude and coding test follows the resume screen at most mass recruiters.

NPTEL courses in Java or Python, a cloud fundamentals badge or a coding platform certificate add credibility when your college is not on the usual campus-placement lists. Format and template for fresher resumes

Recruiters at campus drives and on Naukri spend only a few seconds on a fresher resume, so keep it to one page. Because you have little or no work history, put Education right after a two-line summary: degree, college, university, year and CGPA or percentage, followed by Class 12 and Class 10 rows with board and marks. Many Indian employers still screen on a 60% or 6.0 CGPA cut-off across 10th, 12th and graduation, so missing marks look like you are hiding something.

Next come Projects and Internships, which is where you prove skills. Give each project a title, your role, the tools used and one measurable result. Then add certifications (NPTEL, Tally, NSDC, Google), skills, achievements and languages.
