Lead a librarian resume with qualifications and library size

School, college and institutional librarian posts in India have clear eligibility rules, usually a B.Lib.I.Sc. or M.Lib.I.Sc., and for college librarian posts UGC NET or SET in Library and Information Science. Put these and their years where the reader sees them first.

Then show scale. "Assistant Librarian managing 32,000 volumes for 2,800 students" immediately tells a recruiter the size of library you can handle. Mention whether it was a school, college, university, corporate or public library, because the work differs: school libraries focus on reading habits, while college libraries focus on e-resources, research support and accreditation data.

Automation and digital resources on a librarian resume

Library work in India has moved quickly to software and e-resources, and recruiters now search for these terms. Name the systems you have used: KOHA, SOUL or e-Granthalaya for library management; DSpace for institutional repositories; RFID or barcode circulation; and e-resources like N-LIST, NDLI, DELNET or publisher databases.

Turn each into a result:

  • Migrated 18,000 records to KOHA and introduced RFID self-issue, cutting queue time from 12 to 3 minutes.
  • Ran information literacy sessions that doubled e-resource logins.

If you have prepared library data for NAAC, NBA or NIRF, mention it clearly. College managements value librarians who can support accreditation without last-minute panic.

Reader programmes, freshers and common mistakes

For school librarians, reading programmes are your strongest evidence. Book fairs, reading challenges, author visits, story sessions and library periods with numbers of participants or books issued show that the library is used, not just maintained.

Freshers should list the library internship or practical training from their B.Lib. course: the library, the software used, records catalogued and tasks such as accessioning or stock verification.

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Writing "issuing and returning books" as your main duty.
  • Leaving out classification and cataloguing standards like DDC, CC or MARC 21.
  • Skipping stock verification and weeding work, which managements care about.
  • Using a crowded template; a clean layout from the ATS-friendly templates is ideal for government and institutional portals.

Format and template for teaching resumes

Schools and colleges in India still read many resumes on paper or as printed PDFs, so a clean, traditional layout works better than heavy colour or graphics. Use clear headings such as Summary, Teaching Experience, Education, Eligibility and Certifications, Skills and Co-curricular Activities.

Put the facts a principal checks first near the top: the classes you teach (pre-primary, PRT, TGT or PGT), your subject, and the boards you know, such as CBSE, ICSE/ISC, IB, Cambridge or a state board. List B.Ed., D.El.Ed., B.P.Ed. or NTT clearly, along with CTET, state TET, UGC NET or SET results and the year you qualified. Mention demo classes, smart-class tools and board results only with real numbers.

Keep the resume to one page for freshers and two pages for experienced teachers. A photo is optional unless the school format asks for one. Compare your draft with our teacher resume example before you send it.
