Define your school coordinator role in the first line

"Coordinator" means different things in different schools: academic coordinator for a wing, examination coordinator, activity or CCA coordinator, admissions coordinator or a pre-primary headmistress role. Principals hiring for the post want to see quickly that you have done the same kind of job. Start with the wing or function, the number of students and teachers, and the board.

For example: "Academic coordinator for Classes VI to X, 1,100 students and 48 teachers, CBSE." If you still teach a subject alongside coordination, say so, because many schools expect coordinators to keep a light teaching load.

Coordination results that principals look for

A coordinator's value shows in systems that run smoothly and results that move. Pick bullets that prove both.

  • Weak: "Responsible for timetable and exams."
  • Strong: "Introduced a common assessment calendar, cutting student test clashes to zero."
  • Strong: "Raised the Class X pass rate from 93% to 99% through pre-board analysis and remedial plans."

Teacher development is a big part of the job, so give the number of classroom observations, training sessions and new teachers inducted. Compliance work also counts: CBSE registration and LOC submission, practical exam scheduling, mandatory training hours and inspection readiness. Mention the school ERP or tools you use for result analysis, attendance and parent communication.

Moving from teacher to school coordinator

Most coordinators are promoted from senior teachers, so your resume should show leadership before the title. Exam in-charge duties, house mastership, HOD roles, mentoring new teachers, running CBSE registration or leading an event all show you can coordinate people and deadlines.

Keep your teaching achievements, but trim them to one or two lines per school. The coordinator role should take up most of the space.

Common mistakes:

  • Long lists of duties with no numbers.
  • Taking credit for whole-school results without explaining your part.
  • Leaving out conflict handling with parents, which is a daily task.
  • Forgetting eligibility basics such as B.Ed. and CTET.

If you are aiming for vice principal next, add training in school leadership. Our guide to writing experience helps turn duties into results.

Format and template for teaching resumes

Schools and colleges in India still read many resumes on paper or as printed PDFs, so a clean, traditional layout works better than heavy colour or graphics. Use clear headings such as Summary, Teaching Experience, Education, Eligibility and Certifications, Skills and Co-curricular Activities.

Put the facts a principal checks first near the top: the classes you teach (pre-primary, PRT, TGT or PGT), your subject, and the boards you know, such as CBSE, ICSE/ISC, IB, Cambridge or a state board. List B.Ed., D.El.Ed., B.P.Ed. or NTT clearly, along with CTET, state TET, UGC NET or SET results and the year you qualified. Mention demo classes, smart-class tools and board results only with real numbers.

Keep the resume to one page for freshers and two pages for experienced teachers. A photo is optional unless the school format asks for one. Compare your draft with our teacher resume example before you send it.
