Science teacher resume for freshers: lead with eligibility

When a school has a TGT Science vacancy, the first filter is eligibility: a B.Sc. with the right subject combination, a B.Ed., and CTET Paper II (Mathematics and Science) or a state test such as MP TET Varg 2, REET, HTET or KTET. Put these in your summary and again in Education and Certifications with years. A fresher who writes "B.Sc. Biology, B.Ed., CTET Paper II qualified" in the first line is far easier to shortlist than one who opens with a career objective.

Also state your strongest stream. Many schools want a biology-strong teacher for Classes IX and X, while others need someone comfortable with physics numericals. Being honest about your strength helps you get the right demo class.

Turning a B.Ed. internship into experience

Your school internship is real teaching experience, so list it like a job: school name, classes, duration and what you did. Count things: lessons delivered, practicals conducted, students taught, models built.

• Weak: "Did internship in a school and taught science."
• Strong: "Delivered 64 lessons to Classes VI to VIII and conducted 12 lab practicals with safety briefings."

Use Projects for your B.Ed. action research, a science exhibition you mentored, or a working model you designed. Principals like teachers who can run science fairs, Inspire-style exhibitions and eco-club activities, so one project line on these can tip the decision. Home tuition for board students also counts if you can say how many students and how their marks improved.

Lab work, safety and mistakes to avoid

Science teachers are trusted with laboratories, chemicals and glassware, so mention lab handling and safety. A short line such as "conducted practicals with safety briefings and observation sheets" shows maturity. If you can manage lab stock registers or prepare students for CBSE practical exams, include it.

Avoid these common errors:

• Listing every subject from your B.Sc. without saying which classes you can teach.
• Writing "expert in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths" as a fresher.
• Leaving out your TET or CTET score year, which many schools need for approval records.
• Adding a long declaration and personal details while skipping projects.

Format and template for teaching resumes

Schools and colleges in India still read many resumes on paper or as printed PDFs, so a clean, traditional layout works better than heavy colour or graphics. Use clear headings such as Summary, Teaching Experience, Education, Eligibility and Certifications, Skills and Co-curricular Activities.

Put the facts a principal checks first near the top: the classes you teach (pre-primary, PRT, TGT or PGT), your subject, and the boards you know, such as CBSE, ICSE/ISC, IB, Cambridge or a state board. List B.Ed., D.El.Ed., B.P.Ed. or NTT clearly, along with CTET, state TET, UGC NET or SET results and the year you qualified. Mention demo classes, smart-class tools and board results only with real numbers.
