Show your UX process, not just pretty screens

Hiring managers at Indian product companies and startups want to know how you think, not only how your screens look. Your resume should point to two or three case studies that explain the problem, the research you did, the options you explored and what happened after launch. Link them from the header and mention the strongest one in your summary.

In each job, name the product type and users: a lending app for first-time borrowers, a learning app for school students, a B2B dashboard for warehouse managers. Designing for users in smaller cities, regional languages or low-end Android phones is valuable experience in India, so say so clearly.

UI/UX resume bullets backed by product metrics

The best UI/UX bullets connect a design change to a product number. Useful measures include task completion, conversion, drop-off, time on task, support tickets, feature adoption and app-store ratings. If you do not have access to analytics, use research numbers such as interviews run, usability sessions or issues found.

  • Weak: "Responsible for designing user-friendly interfaces."
  • Strong: "Redesigned KYC onboarding, raising completion from 58% to 74% in 3 months."
  • Strong: "Built a 180-component Figma design system used by 4 squads."

Avoid vague claims such as "pixel-perfect designs" or "improved user experience" without saying how you know it improved. If the numbers are confidential, share relative changes and explain the method you used to measure them.

Tools, certificates and switching into UX

Figma is now the default tool in most Indian teams, so list it first, followed by prototyping and research tools you really use. Basic HTML and CSS knowledge helps you talk to developers but is rarely mandatory.

Graphic designers, developers and psychology graduates often move into UX. If that is you, keep your earlier job but rewrite the bullets around user problems, research and collaboration. Online certificates such as the Google UX Design certificate help you clear screening, but recruiters still shortlist on case studies. Freshers should show two or three complete case studies, ideally including one redesign of a real Indian app with usability testing, instead of ten Dribbble shots.

Format and template for creative resumes

Creative hiring in India usually starts with your work, not your resume. Put a clickable portfolio, showreel or clips link in the header next to your phone number and email, and check that it opens without a login or an access request. Behance and Dribbble work well for designers, a personal website or Vimeo suits video and animation, and a Google Drive folder is fine only if sharing is set to anyone with the link.

The resume itself still passes through Naukri, LinkedIn or an agency's applicant tracking system, so balance visual style with readability. Keep all text as real text rather than text inside images, use standard headings such as Experience, Skills and Education, and stick to one or two accent colours. Name your software and specialisation clearly, add numbers to your projects and keep it to one or two pages. Our how to make a resume guide covers the basics.

Turn this sample into your own resume

Use this sample for structure and wording ideas, then replace every line with your own employers, dates, tools and results. Interviewers can ask about anything on your resume, so keep each claim specific and true.

Frequently asked questions

Two or three detailed case studies are enough for most roles. Choose ones that show research, iteration and a measurable result rather than only final screens.
List HTML, CSS or front-end basics if you have them, because they help you work with developers. Do not present them as core skills unless the job asks for a designer who also codes.
It can help you get noticed as a fresher or career switcher, but it is rarely enough on its own. Recruiters shortlist mainly on portfolio case studies and the quality of your design reasoning.
