What accounts recruiters check on a B.Com fresher resume

Small CA firms, trading companies and accounting outsourcing units hire most B.Com freshers in India, and they screen for practical bookkeeping rather than theory. In the top half of the page they want to see three things: your graduation percentage, whether you have used Tally or another accounting package, and whether you understand GST compliance.

Write "Posted 1,800 vouchers in TallyPrime" instead of "basic knowledge of Tally". If you have prepared GSTR-1, GSTR-3B or TDS working papers, even under supervision, name the returns. A recruiter reading "knowledge of taxation" cannot tell whether you know the difference between output tax and input tax credit.

Turning B.Com projects and internships into proof

Most B.Com students have a final-year project and a short internship but describe both in one vague line. Treat each one as a small job:

• Name the firm type (CA firm, NBFC, trading company) and your title.
• Give volumes: vouchers posted, clients handled, entries reconciled.
• Mention the tool used: TallyPrime, Busy, Zoho Books or Excel.

If you have no internship, a self-practice project still helps. Create a dummy company in Tally, record a full year of transactions, prepare the trial balance, profit and loss account and balance sheet, and describe it in two bullets. Interviewers at accounting firms often ask you to pass a few entries on the spot, so only claim what you can do confidently.

Marks, certifications and exams for B.Com graduates

Put Class 10, Class 12 and B.Com marks in the education section with the board and year. Banks, shared service centres and many corporates apply a 60% cut-off, and leaving marks out usually leads to rejection rather than curiosity.

Certifications that genuinely help B.Com freshers include TallyPrime with GST, an advanced Excel course, and NISM certifications if you are applying to broking or mutual fund firms. If you are also preparing for CA, CMA or CS, mention the level you have cleared, because employers value the discipline and can plan work around exam leave. Avoid listing every MS Office tool separately; one line saying "Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, SUMIFS)" is stronger. Format and template for fresher resumes

Recruiters at campus drives and on Naukri spend only a few seconds on a fresher resume, so keep it to one page. Because you have little or no work history, put Education right after a two-line summary: degree, college, university, year and CGPA or percentage, followed by Class 12 and Class 10 rows with board and marks. Many Indian employers still screen on a 60% or 6.0 CGPA cut-off across 10th, 12th and graduation, so missing marks look like you are hiding something.
